Severe Weather Awareness Campaign: Weather Ready Together!

The goal of this social media campaign was to inform and educate the public about ways we can stay Weather Ready Together during severe weather season. Douglas County launched this social media campaign during March 2025, which is Severe Weather Preparedness Month. I collaborated with local emergency management agencies and the National Weather Service on this video production effort, which included interviewing, lighting, shooting, editing and producing these short video reels for Facebook and X.

The Importance of Working Together:

Severe weather can strike at any time, and staying informed is key to keeping our communities safe. That’s why the Douglas County Emergency Management Agency and Sarpy County Emergency Management Agency work closely with the local National Weather Service Office to ensure timely alerts, reliable information, and a coordinated emergency response.

The Science Behind Severe Weather Preparedness:

When severe weather strikes, preparation is key! Douglas County and Sarpy County work closely with the the National Weather Service Office in Valley to stay up to date on training, new technology, and siren testing—ensuring our communities stay safe and informed.

April 26 Arbor Day Tornado Reflections:

Severe weather doesn’t happen by chance—preparedness is key. As we kick off Severe Weather Awareness Week here in Nebraska, it's a great time to reflect on the importance of early forecasting and emergency planning.


The Weather Service Office in Valley, Nebraska and local meteorologists were tracking the potential for dangerous storms days before the April 26 tornado outbreak, ensuring timely warnings to help keep communities safe.

Winter Night Watch Program 2022

Wherever there is a need in the Omaha metro area and throughout the Western Division (Nebraska, South Dakota, western Iowa), you will find The Salvation Army. Their efforts wouldn’t be possible without the support of our hardworking staff and volunteers. I shot and produced this short film about the Winter Night Watch Program's 2022-2023 Winter Season which provides hot meals and winter clothing to those in need on the streets of Omaha.

Kids Cruisin' Kitchen Program

Children shouldn't have to worry about where their next meal is coming from. Thanks to The Salvation Army's Kids Cruisin' Kitchen Program, many Omaha children in need don't have to worry. The Salvation Army's mobile canteens (food trucks) travel to various metro locations Monday through Friday during the summer months. I stopped by Bellevue Public Library to capture their staff and volunteers in action!

Fareway Donates Bottled Water to The Salvation Army EDS Team

The Salvation Army Emergency Disaster Team is able to quench the thirst of hundreds of metro-area first responders thanks to a generous donation from Fareway Stores. The grocery chain donated 18 pallets of bottled water which amounts to more than 36,000 bottles. I caught up with EDS Manager Maria Moreno and her team as they received this delivery to their EDS headquarters.

Wymore Disaster Relief Coverage

The Salvation Army's Beatrice-based disaster relief team helped the town of Wymore, just North of the Kansas border - where severe weather hit the community in June 2022. Teams provided emotional-spiritual care and served hundreds of meals to first responders and storm survivors. In this video, I caught up with Salvation Army Pastor Hope Burris and her team as they provided meals, words of comfort and prayer to Wymore-area residents in need.

I shot and produced this short video story about the tree's storied past and how it came to be at its current location at American National Bank near 90th & Dodge.

The Salvation Army Burrows Center for Help and Hope in Omaha provides everything individuals and families need to get back on their feet. From a food pantry to utility assistance, the center is a one-stop shop for material assistance needs in the Omaha metro area.

The Salvation Army provides food to people in need across the Western Division

Through a partnership with the Food Bank for the Heartland, The Salvation Army is able to provide food assistance to people in need in towns and cities throughout the Western Division including this food distribution location in Blair, Nebraska.

The Salvation Army provides backpacks to kids in need in the Omaha metro area

Thanks to the outstanding generosity of the Omaha community, The Salvation Army is able to send metro-area students back to school prepared and ready to learn! This is a look at backpack distribution events in 2019.

Life is a circus at Pacific Springs Village

Every Summer, Pacific Springs Village at Immanuel Communities holds their annual Resident Appreciation Event. The 2017 theme was "Life is a Circus." It was fun day filled with food, animals, rides, games. face painting and more!

Fontenelle Elementary School in Omaha installed an art mural on the side of their building thanks to artist Bill Hoover who donated his time and talents.

Fried Chicken Fridays are a hit at Holy Ghost Catholic Church!

Holy Ghost Catholic Church in South Omaha has been serving up fried chicken on Fridays in the fall and winter months for years. It's the perfect meal on a Friday night, complete with beer, a meat wheel, raffles and more! Here's a look at the crew that makes these dinners possible. 

St. Bernadette Catholic Church serves up 50 years of pasta tradition!

St. Bernadette Catholic Parish recently celebrated the 50th anniversary of their annual Men's Club Pasta Dinner! Special thanks goes out to all who helped make this year's event another HUGE success!


It takes a significant effort to make 125 gallons of sauce, 4,500 meatballs and 150 pounds of sausage. Every meal enjoyed and every contribution made helps support youth activities, scholarships, and parish needs. Deacon Subby Enzolera takes us behind the scenes for a look at the hard-working "pasta" crew that makes these events possible every year!


St. Stanislaus Catholic Church celebrates 50 years of Polish Pride!

St. Stanislaus Catholic Church celebrated the 50th anniversary of their annual polish festival on Sunday, August 18, 2024. Dozens of volunteers worked all summer long creating 26,591 handmade pierogis: a popular polish dumpling filled with kraut, potato and cheese. Here's a look at the wonderful kitchen crew that made it all happen.

In 2022, I spent some time at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church in South Omaha where preparations begin every June for their annual polish festival in August. Here's a look at the team of volunteers behind this extraordinary effort!

Holy Ghost Church hosts first-ever drive-thru chicken dinner event

Holy Ghost Catholic Church in South Omaha hosted their first-ever Drive-Thru Chicken Dinner Distribution event during the pandemic. A record number of people turned out for the broasted fried chicken dinners but there was plenty to go around!
